Sky was mostly clear with some light upper level cirrus. Winds moderate. No problems upon opening. Problems were again noted in the DIS slit imager with regards to structured noise appearing in some exposures that seemed to be linked to the TEC. Russet sent a problem report on it after we tried various methods to change cooler behavior. Also, the NA2 guider shutter is acting up again, and a PR was submitted on that also. 2nd Half Observing Specialist: Russet McMillan Second half had continuing light cirrus. There was subarcsecond seeing on the guider much of the time, slightly worse on the slitviewer, but it took constant tinkering with focus to be able to take advantage of the seeing. I'm not sure why the focus was varying so often; the changes were generally small, 25-50 steps, and not shown in the focus log because they weren't found by real focus runs. We had one BadAltDTime error that started during a slew and was corrected by an axis init within less than a minute. Otherwise, everything went smoothly. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE TIME S/E/G/D/O TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:20 DISII-Slit 100(1022) -45 47 12.9/14.1 212 17 - 1.13 20:24 NA2 Gdr -2779(54223) -46 47 12.9/14.1 202 16 R 1.04 --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 59 16 14 275 (W) 764 cirrus none 17:01 61 17 15 266 (W) 977 cirrus none 18:01 61 16 14 279 (W) 819 cirrus none 19:01 57 13 9 239 (WSW) 899 cirrus none 20:01 53 12 13 205 (SSW) 1064 cirrus none 21:01 53 14 15 253 (WSW) 1179 cirrus none 22:01 52 15 12 241 (WSW) 1053 cirrus none 23:01 52 14 15 236 (SW) 1022 cirrus none 00:01 52 14 9 259 (W) 1030 cirrus none 01:01 50 14 7 266 (W) 1138 cirrus none 02:01 50 15 1 236 (SW) 1228 cirrus none 03:01 51 16 5 265 (W) 1283 cirrus none 04:01 51 13 1 294 (WNW) 1309 cirrus none 05:01 51 12 11 26 (NNE) 1186 cirrus none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
