Hastings DIS engineering went until about 18:30, but I opened at 17:00 to begin cooling the dome. I actually saw a spectrum from the red DIS camera tonight, looks GREAT. George Wallerstein started the night with the echelle. Good seeing, lots of cirrus though. No problems encountered. The GFP is on the vacuum pump in preparation for cooling. Seeing deteriorated when the clouds from first half cleared around midnight. Switchover went without incident. Winds picked up second half and remained near 30mph for most of the night. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG/INST FAILURE MODE TIME S/E/G/D/O TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:31 Echelle 98(-423) -34 70 1.1/3.1 247 11 ND2 0.85 23:15 Echelle 145(-266) -85 30 1.8/1.9 292 20 clear 1.66 23:41 GrIm-f/5 150(505) -127 59 1.7/1.9 288 20 J 0.71 --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 44 -10 16 292 (WNW) 273 cirrus none 17:01 39 -13 4 262 (W) 411 cirrus none 18:01 32 -16 7 254 (WSW) 380 cirrus none 19:01 36 -14 11 237 (WSW) 397 cirrus none 20:01 36 -17 22 253 (WSW) 445 cirrus none 21:01 37 -16 22 279 (W) 387 cirrus none 22:01 35 -15 15 270 (W) 384 cirrus none 23:01 36 -15 18 280 (W) 346 cirrus none 00:01 36 -14 23 300 (WNW) 243 cirrus none 01:01 36 -14 22 299 (WNW) 206 clear none 02:01 36 -15 18 302 (WNW) 141 cirrus none 03:01 35 -16 18 306 (NW) 84 clear none 04:01 35 -16 21 297 (WNW) 74 cirrus none 05:01 35 -16 27 298 (WNW) 90 cirrus none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
