McMillan Since DIS is currently unavailable, Sean Raymond donated his scheduled first half time to another UW program. During the afternoon, visiting technical staff checked a possible light leak on SPIcam. Full tests could not be completed before sunset, but the chip heater appeared to be a possible source of extra charge, so it was left off for the night. The telescope and instruments started up well and operated smoothly. The sky was clear and apparently photometric, with good seeing most of the time (0.8-1.2 arcsec except at high airmasses). 2nd Half Observing Specialist: N.C. Hastings Second half started without incident. Weather and sky were great. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG/INST FAILURE MODE TIME S/E/G/D/O TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:58 SPIcam 50(452) 208 53 -0.2/0.4 360 11 r' 1.05 20:07 NA2gdr 1196(62196) 219 50 -0.5/-0.2 338 13 R 0.87 21:41 SPIcam 100(457) 128 44 -1.3/-1.3 276 5 r' 1.14 23:06 SPIcam 150(444) 196 59 -0.2/-1.4 252 3 r' 1.07 00:10 GrIm (f/5) 200(442) 242 53 -1.2/-1.2 240 6 J 0.70 --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 32 -10 9 341 (NNW) 257 clear none 17:01 32 -11 11 338 (NNW) 360 clear none 18:01 31 -11 10 18 (NNE) 146 clear none 19:01 31 -10 8 352 (N) 151 clear none 20:01 30 -11 8 353 (N) 197 clear none 21:01 31 -12 5 310 (NW) 161 clear none 22:01 29 -11 4 266 (W) 128 clear none 23:01 30 -12 4 260 (W) 160 clear none 00:01 31 -15 7 225 (SW) 119 clear none 01:01 31 -19 4 200 (SSW) 40 clear none 02:01 30 -22 4 246 (WSW) 27 clear none 03:01 31 -22 2 212 (SSW) 31 clear none 04:01 31 -21 8 264 (W) 58 clear none 05:01 27 -25 7 267 (W) 91 clear none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
