Winds are nowhere as strong as yesterday and the dust count is comfortably low. George showed up about 18:10 for calibrations. At about 19:55 George said a message popped up on his Mac about a debugging file and that it indicated "he should tell me" about it... not sure what that means. Seeing was variable and made focusing an adventure, but on the whole the conditions were good. 2nd Half Observing Specialist: N.C.Hastings Second half started with a GRIM ICC crash, but a simple restart fixed it and things continued to run smoothly. We switched to echelle at 03:00 and continued until twilight. Near twilight the mirror support system began oscillating again as if it needed tuning. I checked the air dryer systems and they appeared to need recharging. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG/INST FAILURE MODE TIME S/E/G/D/O TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:57 NA2gdr 0(60000) 237 68 1.3/2.7 203 2 none 1.02 22:12 NA2gdr 0(60000) 96 74 1.2/1.2 175 14 R 1.48 23:20 Grim f/5 150(451) 115 69 1.0/1.1 263 9 J 0.83 03:45 Echelle 150(???) 151 69 1.2/1.6 266 7 ND2 0.81 04:55 Echelle 134(314) 190 31 1.4/1.3 253 6 ND2 1.13 --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 40 -5 13 267 (W) 215 clear none 17:01 41 -2 7 267 (W) 323 clear none 18:01 35 -3 0 156 (SSE) 399 clear none 19:01 35 -3 1 183 (S) 415 clear none 20:01 33 -3 12 200 (SSW) 438 clear none 21:01 35 -1 15 181 (S) 624 clear none 22:01 35 -3 12 181 (S) 534 clear none 23:01 36 -3 11 224 (SW) 306 clear none 00:01 36 -1 9 245 (WSW) 406 clear none 01:01 35 4 11 263 (W) 420 clear none 02:01 36 7 9 272 (W) 456 clear none 03:01 36 7 7 264 (W) 470 clear none 04:01 35 8 5 281 (W) 499 clear none 05:01 35 8 9 237 (WSW) 448 clear cirrus note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
