After they finished, the first half program started cals. When they finished I opened the dome to allow cooling at 18:45. Clear skies, focus and startup went smoothly and we were observing before twilight ended. The first program ended early, so I began the standard star observations needed by Jon Holtzman. I emailed the items completed. 2nd Half Observing Specialist: R.McMillan Since the scheduled UC observers couldn't make use of tonight's time, it was given to several drop-in programs previously approved by TACs; two from UC (UC06 Frieman and UC08 Lamb) had first priority, then DIS throughput measurements, then UW05 Stubbs, to make up for UW programs which lost time to the DIS upgrade earlier. Given the complexity of the trading around, it was decided that all the time should be accounted to engineering. We switched over to SPIcam shortly after midnight under clear skies and good to moderate seeing. Antonino and I passed control of the telescope and instrument back and forth to meet our science needs. The night was clear with decent seeing, until some clouds moved in during twilight. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG/INST FAILURE MODE TIME S/E/G/D/O TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:55 DISII 50(808) 59 45 6.9/9.9 269 14 - 1.43 18:59 NA2 Gdr -4100(52597) 60 46 6.6/9.7 263 13 R 1.26 00:01 SPIcam 50(741) 122 43 5.3/6.1 256 12 r' 1.18 02:48 SPIcam 80(651) 31 67 5.0/4.9 215 15 i' 1.02 --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 50 17 9 268 (W) 775 clear none 17:01 51 13 11 266 (W) 586 clear none 18:01 46 12 13 242 (WSW) 600 clear none 19:01 44 10 11 266 (W) 580 clear none 20:01 45 9 14 241 (WSW) 486 clear none 21:01 45 10 12 234 (SW) 1005 clear none 22:01 45 11 12 215 (SW) 990 clear none 23:01 44 11 12 248 (WSW) 895 clear none 00:01 42 11 14 233 (SW) 509 clear none 01:01 41 11 14 202 (SSW) 517 clear none 02:01 41 21 12 205 (SSW) 619 clear none 03:01 42 21 20 226 (SW) 630 clear none 04:01 42 23 17 223 (SW) 742 clear none 05:01 42 22 18 242 (WSW) 1073 mstly clr none 06:01 43 14 9 256 (WSW) 1150 ptly cldy none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
