We were delayed to allow time for engineering to finish up in the enclosure. I opened at 18:35 MST without any difficulties. The UC team had trouble with the instrument immediately upon opening, but resolved when Povilas logged in. Nothing else of note. 2nd Half Observing Specialist: Russet McMillan Second half was clear for several hours, with some clouds moving in after 02:00 which mostly stayed to the east and had little effect on science. Seeing was very good during most of second half, with the guider dropping down to 0.6 arcsec at times (good enough to cause trouble guiding), and delivered seeing of 0.9 arcsec on a couple of 40-minute Fabry-Perot exposures. Everything worked beautifully. A fantastic space shuttle trail only brought in one UFO inquiry, and the caller didn't even seem to be drunk. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG/INST FAILURE MODE TIME S/E/G/D/O TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:28 GFP 200(889) -0 55 4.2/4.8 312 12 4050 1.19 19:36 NA2 Gdr 155(64154) -1 55 4.1/4.6 353 10 R 1.10 21:44 GFP 100(707) 143 65 3.5/4.4 346 8 4023 1.49 21:49 NA2 Gdr 1106(68002) 148 66 3.2/4.2 341 10 R 1.43 00:46 GFP 85(657) 172 66 3.2/3.2 2 8 4316 0.95 00:52 NA2gdr 1000(65000) 175 66 3.4/3.1 4 10 B 0.88 03:08 GFP 150(725) 164 67 3.8/3.4 4 7 4300 0.85 03:10 NA2gdr 1240(65240) 166 67 3.7/3.4 345 14 R 0.79 --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 41 4 19 325 (NW) 406 clear none 17:01 41 5 14 314 (NW) 416 clear none 18:01 40 2 4 288 (WNW) 322 clear none 19:01 39 1 2 49 (NE) 296 clear none 20:01 40 0 9 8 (N) 198 clear none 21:01 40 0 8 345 (NNW) 229 clear none 22:01 39 0 6 356 (N) 238 clear none 23:01 38 1 7 328 (NNW) 219 clear none 00:01 39 1 6 5 (N) 183 clear none 01:01 38 1 14 335 (NNW) 168 clear none 02:01 38 4 1 299 (WNW) 162 mstly clr none 03:01 39 3 12 335 (NNW) 132 ptly cldy none 04:01 39 3 6 269 (W) 131 ptly cldy none 05:01 39 3 12 297 (WNW) 125 mstly clr none 06:01 39 2 10 304 (NW) 116 clear none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
