After talking with Jeff Morgan and others, we were going to try some temp dependant imaging. Peter and Craig had some test to run with SPIcam, so we did those instead. The tests produced some evidence of problem with SPIcam's ability to image sub arrays and they are working on it. In addition, Craig had me test out a new MC test version which had one small bug, but seemed to work otherwise. I continued to work on manual and web updates for the new DIS chip data and documentation and ran a pointing model until Russet arrived. 2nd Half Observing Specialist: R.McMillan After the successful pointing model at NA2, I switched to the echelle and ran a pointing model on that side to compare the two. While the data were being taken, I saw no obvious signs of tertiary instability; in fact, the pointing was often too good, with the star ending up behind the slit. When I reduced the data there was no obvious difference between NA2 and NA1, also good. I was considering taking some Shack-Hartmann measurements when dust became a problem and I closed the telescope at 01:15. The tower dust counter was still reading much lower than the interior counter whenever the enclosure was open. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG/INST FAILURE MODE TIME S/E/G/D/O TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 32 -10 15 9 (N) 639 mstly clr none 17:01 33 -16 10 2 (N) 346 mstly clr none 18:01 31 -17 9 336 (NNW) 318 mstly clr none 19:01 31 -17 10 37 (NE) 290 mstly clr none 20:01 32 -16 17 324 (NW) 301 mstly clr none 21:01 32 -15 15 331 (NNW) 407 mstly clr none 22:01 32 -15 13 315 (NW) 412 mstly clr none 23:01 33 -11 6 267 (W) 445 mstly clr none 00:01 33 -7 13 289 (WNW) 957 mstly clr none 01:01 32 -3 5 298 (WNW) 2052 mstly clr none 02:01 31 -5 11 305 (NW) 1405 mstly clr none 03:01 32 -5 8 305 (NW) 1441 mstly clr none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
