The sky was uniformly filled cirrus with calm winds and cool temps. No problems encountered in setup or testing. I closed again for the first half program to obtain DIS cals at 17:45 MST. We opened at 18:15 MST to allow a test program to use DIS to take spectra of diffuse earthshine from the dark side of the moon. The tracking and exposures all went well, and we switched back to the scheduled program at 18:31 MST. Although thick cirrus held throughout the night observations were still possible. Second half started smoothly with the same thick cirrus. The cloud cover became too thick to observe at about 01:45 MST but improved again around 04:00. All ran smoothly. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG/INST FAILURE MODE TIME S/E/G/D/O TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:44 DISslit 0(339) 22 69 +0.6/+1.9 273 5 none 0.83 18:51 NA2 Gdr 1450(58490) 17 69 +0.4/+1.8 270 7 R 0.72 00:50 DIS Slit 0(233) 174 58 -1.0/-0.9 195 10 none 0.98 00:58 NA2 Gdr -450(56591) 175 58 -1.0/-0.9 293 11 R 1.12 --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 34 14 6 191 (S) 751 cirrus none 17:01 34 8 1 176 (S) 672 cirrus none 18:01 32 0 3 247 (WSW) 277 cirrus none 19:01 34 7 6 273 (W) 361 cirrus none 20:01 34 9 7 256 (WSW) 345 cirrus none 21:01 34 7 7 252 (WSW) 355 cirrus none 22:01 33 10 11 243 (WSW) 338 cirrus none 23:01 33 12 6 210 (SSW) 499 cirrus none 00:01 31 12 10 193 (SSW) 599 cirrus none 01:01 31 12 10 186 (S) 659 cirrus none 02:01 30 10 13 214 (SW) 674 cirrus none 03:01 30 6 15 213 (SSW) 559 cirrus none 04:01 29 15 14 228 (SW) 828 cirrus none 05:01 29 17 18 241 (WSW) 1070 cirrus none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
