The observers started twilight flats with SPIcam around 17:15. We switched to DIS around 20:20 and then back to SPIcam at 22:30. Seeing was decent at the start of the night but became variable bouncing between 1.4 and 2.5 arc sec after 20:00. Second Half Observing Specialist: R.McMillan Second half was clear, with poor seeing (probably horrible seeing on any instrument but GRIM), falling temperatures, and rising wind. There was some evidence of windshake on the primary mirror, but it wasn't too bad until the wind rose above the limit shortly before twilight and we had to close. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 17:55 SPIcam -100(759) 226 61 3.8/3.3 297 14 i' 0.92 19:45 SPIcam -100(559) 177 63 3.8/3.0 270 18 i' 1.26 20:30 DISslit -150(221) 115 62 2.2/2.7 250 11 none 1.90 20:39 NA2gdr -322(52678) 117 63 1.6/2.5 262 15 R 2.18 22:50 SPIcam -100(493) 220 50 0.7/0.9 272 6 i' 1.74 00:05 GrIm2(f/5) -25(305) 297 71 -0.4/-0.1 276 14 K' 1.35 01:28 GrIm2(f/5) 100(400) 293 55 -1.6/-1.6 290 23 K' 1.68 --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 39 -4 15 302 (WNW) 13 Clear none 17:01 38 4 9 273 (W) 14 Clear none 18:01 39 8 12 296 (WNW) 12 Clear none 19:01 38 9 12 271 (W) 21 Clear none 20:01 38 12 16 251 (WSW) 19 Clear none 21:01 36 19 16 249 (WSW) 26 Clear none 22:01 34 19 19 249 (WSW) 29 Clear none 23:01 33 19 16 238 (WSW) 42 clear none 00:01 31 19 20 285 (WNW) 35 clear none 01:01 29 16 21 301 (WNW) 59 clear none 02:01 28 16 14 297 (WNW) 56 clear none 03:01 26 16 14 315 (NW) 66 clear none 04:01 24 16 16 16 (NNE) 108 clear none 05:01 23 15 10 344 (NNW) 109 clear none 06:01 22 12 15 353 (N) 131 clear blowing snow Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
