Since this was the primary observations for the first half, I choose the long observing script. Seeing was quite good until a fast moving bank of clouds appeared about 1845. At, 1915, when PU04 finished, I turned the telescope over to Gajus. Fighting with clouds the remainder of first half, he finally gave up and gave the remainder of his time to the second half observers at 2305. 2nd Half Observing Specialist: R.McMillan Second half was mostly clear. We observed Saturn, Jupiter, and Venus with the MWIR AOTF. I took a little time at the beginning of second half to check planetary pointing with the echelle, and the method we finally settled on was clunky but functional. There was another pair of bad magnasensor readings which caused a little confusion and lost time, but most of the time was spent productively on collecting photons and refining the instrument control software. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- NM01 V T/H 00:40 00:54 bad alt magnasensor readings ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:07 SPIcam -100(516) 205 58 -0.4/0.1 23 13 r' 0.75 18:14 NA2gdr -3185(57814) 209 57 -0.4/0.0 21 11 R 0.91 19:46 SPIcam -50(581) 233 44 -0.1/-0.4 357 22 r' 0.8 00:38 MWIR 50(1743) 328 74 -0.1/-0.8 46 2 L ?? --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 33 15 14 33 (NNE) 179 Clear None 17:01 32 15 14 359 (N) 141 Clear None 18:01 31 13 13 4 (N) 164 Clear None 19:01 31 12 24 356 (N) 144 Prtly Cldy None 20:01 32 14 14 27 (NNE) 151 Mstly Cldy None 21:01 32 16 8 3 (N) 141 Mstly Cldy None 22:01 30 17 11 355 (N) 153 Mstly Cldy None 23:01 32 18 12 340 (NNW) 135 Mstly Cldy None 00:01 32 17 13 18 (NNE) 142 mstly clr none 01:01 31 17 18 7 (N) 161 clear none 02:01 31 16 12 13 (NNE) 121 clear none 03:01 33 9 15 354 (N) 92 clear none 04:01 32 11 9 349 (NNW) 123 clear none 05:01 31 13 15 18 (NNE) 121 clear none 06:01 32 12 15 1 (N) 129 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
