He had to do cals when his program started. The enclosure was not open for cooling purposes until the observers cals were completed although I opened the louvers when it was dark enough. Seeing was good at or better than one arc second. for the start of the night. Second Half Observing Specialist: R.McMillan Clouds started showing up after 22:00, first single spies and then battalions. I was able to get some Shack-Hartmann measurements despite the passing clouds, then we went on to observe with the Fabry-Perot. Its shutter was still broken, but we were able to use the NA2 eyelid as a shutter without too much trouble; it just took a little extra practice in communication. The clouds got considerably thicker around 03:15, and we closed shortly thereafter. Radar showed little threat of rain associated with the clouds, so we re-opened during morning twilight for sky flats. Although the weather was less ideal, this was certainly a far more peaceful night than the last one. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE TIME S/E/G/D/O TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:50 DISslit -80(555) 28 48 5.9/7.4 266 16 --- 1.29 19:00 NA2gdr 323(53322) 27 48 5.9/7.2 255 18 R 1.14 23:20 S-H 100(1151) 308 62 6.2/5.7 277 19 - 1.0 00:20 GFP 250(901) 216 61 5.9/5.5 274 24 B 0.99 00:28 NA2gdr 6151(66151) 219 60 5.9/5.6 273 20 R 0.84 --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 48 20 9 263 (W) 355 Clear None 17:01 43 19 9 266 (W) 392 Clear None 18:01 42 19 12 270 (W) 352 Clear None 19:01 42 20 14 263 (W) 331 Clear None 20:01 41 19 14 272 (W) 477 Clear None 21:01 42 16 19 266 (W) 339 Clear None 22:01 43 16 17 286 (WNW) 331 Ptly Cldy None 23:01 43 17 27 278 (W) 300 Mstly Cldy None 00:01 43 18 19 276 (W) 344 ptly cldy none 01:01 43 18 21 266 (W) 347 ptly cldy none 02:01 42 19 22 268 (W) 311 ptly cldy none 03:01 41 19 15 271 (W) 395 mstly cldy none 04:01 42 19 15 284 (WNW) 385 mstly cldy none 05:01 42 19 15 273 (W) 379 mstly cldy none 06:01 42 20 19 272 (W) 346 mstly cldy none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
