Again, everything ran smoothly for the first half of the night. 2nd Half Observing Specialist: R.McMillan Second half was clear, with moderate to awful seeing. It was peaceful enough that we were able to watch the peak of the Leonid shower, which was quite nice although diminished by the moon. Two minor problems cropped up, costing just a little time: a bug where echelle images after the first in a sequence have the wrong comment; and another crash of Remark (2.82), similar to last night's crash except that it restarted very slowly tonight. We switched back to version 2.80b and the crash didn't recur; it's because of similar crashes in the past that 2.82 is still not the official version. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- NM02 E T/S 05:59 06:06 Remark 2.82 crashed, slow restart ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 17:52 Echelle -53(-378) 40 38 1.8/3.9 182 10 clear 1.29 20:31 Echelle 125(-215) 108 20 1.2/1.3 255 2 ND2 2.04 05:51 S-H 75(930) 178 59 2.6/1.3 35 13 - Yuck! --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 42 1 3 210 (SSW) 279 Clear none 17:01 37 0 1 213 (SSW) 236 Clear none 18:01 35 -3 7 191 (S) 160 Clear none 19:01 35 -3 6 198 (SSW) 126 Clear none 20:01 35 -2 4 205 (SSW) 167 Clear none 21:01 34 0 1 187 (S) 175 Clear none 22:01 35 0 6 284 (WNW) 143 Clear none 23:01 34 -1 8 343 (NNW) 150 clear none 00:01 31 8 8 349 (NNW) 249 clear none 01:01 30 10 6 359 (N) 293 clear none 02:01 38 -18 7 2 (N) 36 clear none 03:01 35 -18 3 359 (N) 63 clear none 04:01 36 -19 8 31 (NNE) 60 clear none 05:01 33 -10 3 92 (E) 83 clear none 06:01 37 -17 10 29 (NNE) 72 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
