During checkout the NA2 guider failed to initialize with the following TCC output: 0 0 F Modu="prt_Read"; Text="read timed out on port LTA7:" 0 0 F Modu="prt_Init_Forth"; Text="initialization command init failed" Repeated cycling of the NA2 GCAM Mac and the guider box upstairs failed to resolve the problem. The Echell guider, however, worked fine. I was unable to reach anyone by phone initially for help in resolving the problem. I helped Jack get SPIcam setup for Cullen's program, which required a filter swap from wheels 2 to 1. Before the swap Jack had trouble initializing SPIcam, which turned out to be a slightly misaligned filter wheel which had resulted in the wheel getting stuck. Some cajoling of the wheel caused it to slide in properly and the wheel started moving properly again. 2nd Half Observing Specialist: J.Dembicky No problems for the 2nd half of the night. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 00:45 SPIcam 0(297) 142 51 -6.2/-6 63 23 9100A 1.7 01:45 SPIcam 50(341) 113 59 -5.6/-6.1 32 9 9100A 1.5 --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 28 16 13 36 (NE) 92 Clear none 17:01 25 20 27 48 (NE) 61 Clear none 18:01 24 17 15 52 (NE) 62 Clear none 19:01 23 17 30 69 (ENE) 63 Clear none 20:01 22 18 27 68 (ENE) 45 Clear none 21:01 21 19 29 73 (ENE) 42 Clear none 22:01 21 17 28 67 (ENE) 42 Clear none 23:01 21 15 26 65 (ENE) 110 Clear none 00:01 21 14 22 71 (ENE) 88 Clear none 01:01 22 12 16 61 (ENE) 76 Clear none 02:01 22 11 9 34 (NE) 143 Clear none 03:01 23 8 14 52 (NE) 59 Clear none 04:01 22 10 5 347 (NNW) 91 Clear none 05:01 20 10 0 151 (SSE) 78 Clear none 06:01 23 8 6 13 (NNE) 98 Clear none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
