Seeing was excellent for the first couple of hours but later degraded as the wind changed direction. At the shift change we used the instrument change time plus some of second half for Shack-Hartman measurements. We observed one star on the meridian at an elevation of 60 degrees and planned on getting a second star, but deteriorating seeing conditions caused us to change our minds. The data are on the S-H machine, E:\2002-11-13, files Ref001 (3 combined 300s reference images) and Mir001-010. 2nd Half Observing Specialist: W.Ketzeback Second half observers elected to leave spicam on. The seeing was moderate and temperature was changing so we refocused often until things settled down a little and the seeing improved. At 0405 the observers requested an instrument change to DIS. The seeing was subarcsec the rest of the night. Of interesting note, the Sloan Obs-specs reported large fluctuating sky levels again tonight in the near-IR. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:18 SPIcam 150(816) 181 57 1.2/4.4 354 9 r' 0.99 18:36 SPIcam 50(692) 212 53 0.4/3.9 1 8 r' 1.02 19:01 NA2gdr -1000(60000) 191 56 1.1/3.2 338 8 R 0.64 20:07 NA2gdr 0(61000) 131 47 1.7/1.7 346 5 clear 1.13 21:11 NA2gdr -391(60608) 146 52 1.7/0.9 3 7 clear 1.77 01:08 SPIcam 200(763) 48 38 5.3/1.0 356 5 i' 2.04 01:33 NA2gdr 0(61000) 49 43 5.0/1.5 352 6 r 1.81 02:01 SPIcam 250(820) 49 47 5.4/1.9 262 2 i' 1.12 02:06 NA2gdr -3000(58000) 49 48 5.0/1.9 284 5 r 1.01 02:57 SPIcam -50(480) 47 56 2.9/1.6 254 7 i' 0.96 03:00 NA2gdr -2423(58577) 47 56 2.8/1.5 248 6 r 1.19 03:09 NA2gdr -2423(58577) 46 58 2.8/1.5 248 6 r 1.19 04:47 DISslit -50(245) 25 70 2.4/1.3 208 3 - 0.97 04:50 NA2gdr -2316(50683) 23 70 2.3/1.3 225 7 r 0.82 --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 35 23 5 246 (WSW) 142 PtlyCldy cirrus 17:01 33 22 0 124 (SE) 157 PtlyCldy cirrus 18:01 35 -18 6 349 (NNW) 28 Clear none 19:01 34 -22 8 318 (NW) 7 Clear none 20:01 35 -22 8 357 (N) 9 Clear none 21:01 33 -23 7 2 (N) 20 Clear none 22:01 33 -23 6 356 (N) 16 Clear none 23:01 34 -23 2 353 (N) 19 Clear none 00:01 33 -11 6 7 (N) 30 Clear none 01:01 40 -18 6 358 (N) 6 Clear none 02:01 42 -16 4 325 (NW) 3 Clear none 03:01 37 -20 8 266 (W) 17 Clear none 04:01 37 -20 5 243 (WSW) 8 Clear none 05:01 36 -20 8 242 (WSW) 14 Clear none 06:01 35 -21 5 211 (SSW) 5 Clear none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
