Unfortunately, humidity levels were very unstable, with clouds wandering around the mountains at and below the level of the observatory. RH measurements often changed by 10-20% between one minute and the next, according to both the 3.5m dewpoint sensor and the Sloan dewpoint sensor mounted on the PT stairway. Because of this, I did not feel comfortable opening for the Adler program. Soon after the Adler time was up, the humidity began to look more stable and the nearby fog clouds receded. We opened and were able to get some data before the humidity rose again. We made one other attempt to open around 21:00, but never even had time to complete a focus image before the humidity went up. 2nd half Observing Specialist: J.Dembicky High humidity and fog kept us closed for the entire 2nd half of the night. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE TIME S/E/G/D/O TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:01 SPIcam -50(769) 204 55 5.9/7.8 207 12 r' 0.95 19:01 NA2gdr -1204(59795) 205 55 5.9/7.7 182 13 R 1.39 19:28 SPIcam 0(760) 164 60 5.8/6.9 187 12 r' 0.76 --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 46 38 2 189 (S) 158 ptly cldy none 17:01 41 38 7 144 (SE) 200 mstly clr none 18:01 42 30 17 201 (SSW) 133 mstly clr none 19:01 43 32 9 209 (SSW) 146 mstly clr none 20:01 42 39 14 193 (SSW) 185 mstly clr none 21:01 42 40 15 179 (S) 179 mstly clr none 22:01 43 42 18 201 (SSW) 202 mstly clr none 23:01 43 43 16 185 (S) 17828 cloudy fog 00:01 43 43 19 195 (SSW) 3959 cloudy fog 01:01 43 43 19 200 (SSW) 4911 cloudy fog 02:01 43 43 20 192 (SSW) 4181 cloudy fog 03:01 42 42 13 191 (S) 6083 cloudy fog 04:01 42 42 17 200 (SSW) 7111 cloudy fog 05:01 42 42 13 223 (SW) 2883 cloudy fog 06:01 41 41 7 221 (SW) 3193 cloudy fog note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
