Craig Loomis and Dave Woods helped out with the afternoon checkout, and I arrived just around sunset. There were intermittent high clouds absorbing photons throughout first half, with moderate seeing. Everything worked very smoothly. 2nd half Observing Specialist: J.Dembicky The clouds grew thicker until finally no useful photons were being captured around 02:30. The clouds thinned a little and I re-opened around 03:25 but they grew thicker and the observer finally gave up around 04:55 as the clouds became thick enough to completely obscure the moon. No problems with the telescope for the 2nd half of the night. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE TIME S/E/G/D/O TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:00 DISslit -50(431) 99 74 4.4/6.7 198 11 - 1.3 18:05 NA2gdr 3582(56582) 100 75 3.7/6.5 200 11 R 1.07 --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 45 24 11 236 (SW) 166 mstly clr none 17:01 41 25 6 223 (SW) 184 mstly clr none 18:01 39 18 10 200 (SSW) 121 ptly cldy none 19:01 40 13 9 195 (SSW) 73 ptly cldy none 20:01 40 9 10 193 (SSW) 35 ptly cldy none 21:01 40 13 13 203 (SSW) 94 ptly cldy none 22:01 41 17 13 268 (W) 113 ptly cldy none 23:01 41 22 10 271 (W) 192 ptly cldy none 00:01 41 25 11 266 (W) 241 ptly cldy none 01:01 42 27 5 207 (SSW) 228 mstly cldy none 02:01 41 27 10 184 (S) 235 mstly cldy none 03:01 42 25 15 203 (SSW) 182 mstly cldy none 04:01 41 30 11 211 (SSW) 261 mstly cldy none 05:01 42 24 11 193 (SSW) 188 cloudy none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
