Seeing was highly variable as expected in the interval just after opening, then quieted down to subarcsecond. Another quiet first half. 2nd half Observing Specialist: R.McMillan Second half remained clear, with good to moderate seeing (0.9-1.3 arcsec). Everything worked fairly well, aside from one crash of the guider Mac which required a reboot but cost no observing time. Even while the guider was running, the observers mentioned that there was a systematic tracking error with the star tending to move toward the south while it was tracked for many hours from the southeast to the southwest. Other targets, in the north and ENE, had better tracking. The primary seemed generally better behaved than previous nights, up to altitudes of ~81 degrees. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE TIME S/E/G/D/O TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:19 DISslit 0(455) 103 77 3.2/6.2 193 14 - 1.33 18:23 NA2gdr 877(53877) 105 78 3.2/6.0 185 15 R 1.45 --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 44 24 8 198 (SSW) 199 clear none 17:01 40 26 11 181 (S) 207 clear none 18:01 37 24 12 187 (S) 273 clear none 19:01 38 22 13 191 (S) 327 clear none 20:01 38 25 14 207 (SSW) 549 clear none 21:01 38 27 14 188 (S) 910 clear none 22:01 37 25 18 218 (SW) 425 clear none 23:01 38 26 15 228 (SW) 284 clear none 00:01 38 26 10 235 (SW) 319 clear none 01:01 39 25 13 262 (W) 240 clear none 02:01 40 27 14 253 (WSW) 245 clear none 03:01 40 27 12 250 (WSW) 304 clear none 04:01 40 27 9 266 (W) 313 clear none 05:01 39 27 8 260 (W) 283 clear none 06:01 37 28 8 243 (WSW) 274 clear none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
