We had clouds until around 20:20 when the threat of rain subsided and the clouds move eastward. I opened and had the telescope focused around 20:30. 00:35 I attempted to take some Shack-Hartmann data but I could not put the star on the camera. Did Russet make some tip-tilt changes or pointing model changes during engineering this week??? I could see a star slide by on the monitor but could not get it onto the camera. After about 30 mins (and a few mistakes of instrument block, yes I did re-slew with Remark afterwards.) I gave up at trying to blind guess at where the star was located. The 2nd half observers wanted to use GrIm for the first hour so I did an instrument switch for them (SPIcam was mounted because of questionable weather at the beginning of the night). I had GrIm focused around 01:15 and the seeing was 0.74 arc sec in J. I changed back over to SPIcam at 03:20, seeing was 0.81 arc sec in r'. Everything ran smoothly tonight except for the Shack-Hartmann. ---------------- FAILURE LOG --------------- PROG INST FAILURE TIME S/E/G/D/O TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:30 Echelle 14(-217) 305 38 4.6/6.0 263 11 ND1 1.46 22:28 Echelle 114(-280) 193 62 4.4/4.4 268 8 ND1 0.95 01:13 GrIm-f/10 170(648) 212 48 4.4/3.9 274 9 J 0.74 03:27 SPIcam -10(662) 177 61 3.5/3.7 302 16 r' 0.81 03:33 NA2gdr -5(60994) 181 61 3.6/3.6 297 15 R 0.76 --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 45 36 25 231 (SW) 134 Cloudy none 17:01 47 33 15 222 (SW) 139 Cloudy none 18:01 43 34 12 265 (W) 180 Cloudy none 19:01 41 33 16 238 (WSW) 234 Cloudy none 20:01 41 33 16 246 (WSW) 217 Mst.
