This is what I could remember of it (Luckily it occured early in the evening). Tonight is an engineering night. I started the cooling fans around 17:40 and opened the enclosure at 18:00. Since I was going to be using the S-H tonight and I wanted the telescope cooled first, I decided to take some 2237 data. Of course the humidity started to rise from the low 70% to the low 80% range within 30 mins after I opened, but I proceded to get data anyway. The seeing started out around 1.1 arc sec in r' but grew worse shortly after I started taking data (a front from the W was pushing in, as seen by the humidity climbing). Clouds moved in as I finished the 2237 data taking around 20:00 and I decided it prudent to close the enclosure as the clouds looked threatening. It started snowing for a few minutes around 21:30. I worked on updating some of the 3.5m web pages and Russet also came in early to do some pointing models (with the enclosure closed). 2nd Half Observing Specialist: R.McMillan Second half started out with clouds, and around the time that they cleared, the humidity started getting uncomfortable. Eventually the humidity was well above the limit. I ran a dome-closed pointing model with the tertiary pointing toward the Shack-Hartmann, to compare the sag in that position against what we've seen at NA1 and NA2. While the weather remained poor, I was able to reduce those results and work on some other analysis projects. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE TIME S/E/G/D/O TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:55 SPIcam -80(780) 122 45 r' 1.08 19:08 NA2gdr 21(61021) 122 45 R 1.28 --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 43 36 10 217 (SW) 227 Cloudy lt. rain 17:01 46 37 12 216 (SW) 186 Pt.
