Seeing appeared to be generally good, but at some azimuths the image quality was affected by windshake moving the telescope. Soon enough the wind went over the limit and we had to close until it dropped again. The observer hadn't showed up by the time it was dark enough to focus (a problem that's becoming more common of late and may merit a reminder on apo35-general). I fired up the Shack-Hartmann and got a few star measurements before she logged in to start cals. 2nd half Observing Specialist: W. Ketzeback Weather was about the same as first half with the seeing degrading some as the night progressed. Humidity rose steadily through the night but was below the limit until the start of twilight. Both first half and second half observers were comcerned and complained about broad dark bands on the dis-slitviewer that were visible when looking at bright stars. I submitted a problem report. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE TIME S/E/G/D/O TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:41 S-H 30(1427) 43 59 10.7/12.0 200 19 - good 20:19 DISslit 50(788) -78 53 11.9/11.6 200 21 - 0.96 20:21 NA2gdr -1642(52357) -78 53 11.8/11.5 180 15 R 0.99 --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 58 32 15 220 (SW) 218 clear none 17:01 57 31 20 200 (SSW) 315 clear none 18:01 54 30 20 201 (SSW) 613 clear none 19:01 51 29 18 201 (SSW) 633 clear none 20:01 52 26 19 184 (S) 591 clear none 21:01 54 25 16 190 (S) 224 clear none 22:01 55 24 26 191 (S) 194 clear none 23:01 55 26 25 189 (S) 168 clear none 00:01 53 28 20 211 (SSW) 159 clear none 01:01 51 28 17 194 (SSW) 392 clear none 02:01 48 32 12 198 (SSW) 309 clear none 03:01 47 33 12 218 (SW) 323 clear none 04:01 45 35 13 217 (SW) 337 clear none 05:01 44 35 10 263 (W) 321 clear none 06:01 42 37 10 276 (W) 441 clear none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
