I turned on the cooling fans but elected not to open the dome early. Radar webcasts showed a strong but weakening band of showers headed our way, encouragement to stay closed for the beginning of the evening. Skies still had scattered clouds but were less threatening by 22:30, at which time I opened. Seeing was moderately good. Conditions became much worse right before midnight and we closed. 2nd Half Observing Specialist: J.Dembicky Clouds all 2nd half prevented us from opening at all. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE TIME S/E/G/D/O TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 22:50 Echelle 111(23.34) 267 35 8.8/9.0 265 2.1 nd1 0.85 --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 56 37 9 254 (WSW) 424 Cloudy None 17:01 51 38 5 256 (WSW) 459 Cloudy None 18:01 50 38 6 240 (WSW) 422 Cloudy None 19:01 48 38 6 261 (W) 432 Cloudy None 20:01 47 37 7 246 (WSW) 416 Mstly Cldy None 21:01 46 38 1 353 (N) 714 Mstly Cldy None 22:01 49 29 2 295 (WNW) 273 Mstly Cldy None 23:01 48 27 2 232 (SW) 164 Cloudy None 00:01 49 27 1 258 (WSW) 213 Cloudy None 01:01 49 30 2 264 (W) 328 Cloudy None 02:01 48 31 2 187 (S) 329 Cloudy None 03:01 48 33 4 188 (S) 397 Cloudy None 04:01 47 33 7 181 (S) 413 Cloudy None 05:01 46 33 5 159 (SSE) 450 Cloudy None note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
