Gajus was able to start taking flats right at twilight. 2nd Half Observing Specialist: R.McMillan At midnight there were thin clouds lurking around the horizon, but it was still clear enough for a quick S-H measurement. The data were analyzed and added to the plots of this Fall's collimation monitoring at http://users.apo.nmsu.edu/~mcmillan/sh2002_09.html , which anyone may look at who wants to see why we're doing these pre-emptions. Bill stuck around to help me speed up the instrument change from SPIcam to DIS, and we turned over to the second half observer in good time. Seeing appeared to be fairly good most of the second half, but orographic clouds were piling up on the eastern horizon to make us nervous. Eventually the clouds grew widespread enough to prevent science, and I closed up a little ahead of schedule. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE TIME S/E/G/D/O TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:30 SPIcam 0.00(922.11) 64 64 11.7/12.7 261 17.2 r' 1.00 19:40 NA2guider 0.00(60998) 64 64 11.7/12.7 261 17.2 R 1.50 21:30 SPIcam 50.00(1093.98) 180 70 10.6/11.1 260 11.0 r' 0.80 21:35 NA2guider 0.00(60998) 180 70 10.6/11.1 260 11.0 R 1.25 01:33 DISslit 10(749) 233 42 10.9/10.4 301 12 - 0.96 --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 63 32 16 273 (W) 191 Clear None 17:01 59 27 11 264 (W) 196 Clear None 18:01 57 29 9 246 (WSW) 203 Clear None 19:01 52 28 12 280 (W) 193 Clear None 20:01 53 24 15 266 (W) 264 Clear None 21:01 51 23 15 269 (W) 189 Clear None 22:01 51 24 13 266 (W) 194 Ptly Cldy None 23:01 51 25 14 267 (W) 186 Ptly Cldy None 00:01 52 24 17 285 (WNW) 204 Ptly Cldy None 01:01 51 23 11 278 (W) 215 ptly cldy none 02:01 51 24 9 297 (WNW) 223 ptly cldy none 03:01 51 24 7 355 (N) 445 ptly cldy none 04:01 50 23 3 8 (N) 478 ptly cldy none 05:01 51 22 11 353 (N) 612 mstly cldy none 06:01 50 22 8 2 (N) 615 mstly cldy none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
