Opened the enclosure/telescope at 17:50 under clear skies. The 1st half observer gave us a last minute instrument change and filter setup for SPIcam, so they ate all the time required to set the instrument up, this started at 17:10. They were also required to end their program at 23:45 so that DIS could be re-mounted in time for the 2nd half observer. Things ran smoothly for the first half of the night with excellent seeing. 2nd Half Observing Specialist: R.McMillan Second half had mostly good seeing (0.6-1.1 arcsec), except for a brief period of rapid temperature changes. The skies were mostly clear except for some very thin cirrus in the later morning. There were a few strange occurrences including an unexplained rotator jump, but none of these oddities cost data or time. ------- OBSERVER COMMENTS ------- P.Szkody (UW11): This was an excellent night -- many great spectra. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG/INST FAILURE MODE TIME S/E/G/D/O TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION -------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:23 SPIcam -100(742) 18 50 9.1/9.7 22 11 R 1.13 18:30 NA2gdr 295(61295) 18 50 9.1/9.6 10 12 R 1.27 19:37 SPIcam 50(936) 29 37 9.2/9.3 24 20 R 0.89 19:42 NA2gdr 2795(63795) 29 37 9.5/9.2 27 16 R 1.07 00:11 DISslit -25(702) -40 58 8.1/8.4 359 6 - 0.75 00:17 NA2gdr 2424(59424) -41 58 8.3/8.5 46 1 R 0.68 --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 49 17 10 348 (NNW) 65 Clear none 17:01 48 10 11 359 (N) 15 Clear none 18:01 46 11 14 29 (NNE) 4 Clear none 19:01 49 7 15 26 (NNE) 5 Clear none 20:01 49 10 13 34 (NE) 5 Clear none 21:01 49 13 5 28 (NNE) 14 Clear none 22:01 49 17 10 19 (NNE) 25 clear none 23:01 48 18 12 11 (N) 29 clear none 00:01 47 13 7 359 (N) 16 clear none 01:01 42 15 7 1 (N) 8 clear none 02:01 43 15 10 323 (NW) 18 clear none 03:01 43 15 10 325 (NW) 18 clear none 04:01 44 16 10 323 (NW) 34 mstly clr none 05:01 41 18 15 308 (NW) 116 mstly clr none 06:01 40 18 13 309 (NW) 86 mstly clr none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
