By 20:40 the sky was clearing and usable, but we remained closed a while longer for the observers to complete their calibrations. When we did open, I simply made a guess at the focus rather than trying to measure it closely under conditions of poor and variable seeing. Seeing was mostly bad during first half, ranging from 1.5 to 2.5 arcsec. It did improve somewhat around midnight, once the telescope reached equilibrium, but a bad storm was approaching rapidly from the north. The telescope was closed at 00:25, and rain arrived shortly before 01:00. Once the storm cleared up, the weather remained humid and windy for a while. We re-opened at 02:35 under mostly clear skies and managed to get some science done despite variable seeing and humidity. ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM" ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 21:05 DISslit -150(732) 94 80 11.4/14.7 69 21 - 2.32 21:05 NA2gdr 3000(59000) 95 80 11.4/14.7 69 21 R 2.1 02:37 DISslit 50(769) 228 66 11.0/11.1 23 17 - 1.2 --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 17:01 62 33 14 320 (NW) 203 ptly cldy none 18:01 60 37 7 313 (NW) 324 ptly cldy none 19:01 58 41 9 357 (N) 413 ptly cldy none 20:01 54 40 21 62 (ENE) 280 mstly cldy lightning 21:01 52 39 18 74 (ENE) 232 mstly clr none 22:01 52 39 18 76 (ENE) 182 mstly clr none 23:01 53 36 14 77 (ENE) 202 ptly cldy none 00:01 54 34 9 78 (ENE) 209 mstly clr none 01:01 53 35 19 35 (NE) 181 cloudy rain 02:01 47 37 21 83 (E) 171 ptly cldy rain 03:01 46 41 6 31 (NNE) 207 mstly clr none 04:01 54 32 12 9 (N) 210 mstly clr none 05:01 51 36 13 15 (NNE) 244 mstly clr none 06:01 53 32 11 8 (N) 235 mstly clr none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
