Opened enclosure at 20:10 tonight. Seeing was around 1.25 arc sec with DISslit when we focused at 21:10. Clouds moved in around 00:05 and no further science was taken so the 1st half observers took some lamps until 00:25. It started raining about 00:30 (we were just outside checking about 1 min earlier so it was sudden with no warning, 39% humidity). Covers were closed (remotely) but a few raindrops may have hit the mirror between when the rain sensor went off and I issued the cover close command. The railing in the enclosure was already getting wet by the time I got up there (and I ran) after I issued the eyelid/cover close from the control room. The remote control of the covers worked well tonight in getting things shut ASAP! I checked the mirror when I re-opened and a few raindrops did manage to get on the mirror (the covers can only close so fast) as remnants of rain spots were seen on inspection of the primary. We re-opened at 01:30 and closed (mirror covers) due to clouds at 03:50, just in case it decided to sprinkle again on us. Observers gave up around 04:20 due to clouds. ---------------- PROBLEM LOG ---------------- Time Problem/Fix PR# ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 03:20 Guider quit working - first got an error 'could not open 2001160 file: guider images:gimg0222.fits; error: No Error'. Then the guide camera would not read at all (using gcam doread). I did a 'gcam init' which allowed the guider to once again read out, but still no go. I had the remote observers just manually guide until I figured out what is going on to fix it. - Fix was to reset the Mac ICC and intermediate level reset. ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM" ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 21:05 DISslit 70(1526) -15 49 19.4/20.1 180 11 none 1.25 21:17 NA2gdr 1475(57475) -16 49 19.3/20.8 171 14 none 1.27 01:47 DISslit -110(1151) 117 56 15.6/17.2 323 12 none 1.41 01:55 NA2gdr -1391(54608) 120 57 15.6/16.9 291 12 none 1.3 --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 18:01 77 34 15 225 (SW) 1232 Clear none 19:01 74 33 9 209 (SSW) 1184 Clear none 20:01 69 32 9 179 (S) 1660 Clear none 21:01 67 32 13 177 (S) 1726 Clear none 22:01 66 33 14 156 (SSE) 1871 Clear none 23:01 66 34 14 162 (SSE) 2033 Clear none 00:01 67 34 16 173 (S) 2030 Pt.
