Louvers and fans opened earlier at 19:05. The instrument was handed over to the observers at 20:20 for them to take evening sky flats. Seeing was about 1 arc sec when the instrument was focused at 20:55. The observers locked up SPIcam at 21:25 and it had to be reset. 6 mins lost due to the lockup and I warned them that it is not recomended that the exposure times be less than 1.6 sec, they were exposing for 0.8 sec. SPIcam locked up the other night because of the same reason, too short of exposure. at 21:40 the observers locked SPIcam up again and it needed to be reset. They were still using 0.8 sec exposures which I warned against. I closed half the enclosure for them since they didn't need all the photons in SPIcam. They reported that this worked really well for them. No lockups after they increased the exposure time. Instrument change occured on time at 00:55 and the 2nd half observers were ready to go by 01:05. We had a minor problem with the auto-guider not wanting to turn off from the remote observers Remark, so I could do a pointing correction. We lost about 12 mins due to the problem. When the observer exited the guider window on the echelle, the guider stopped and I was able to do the pointing correction. Everything ran smoothly otherwise. --------------- INSTRUMENT FOCUS LOG ---------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM" ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:51 SPIcam -100(1317) 52 69 16.9/18.9 234 13 York5059 0.99 22:50 SPIcam 25(1370) 270 74 16.5/17.0 263 18 g' 0.97 22:55 NA2gdr 146(60146) 270 74 16.5/17.0 263 18 none 0.96 01:17 Echelle 6(243) -37 72 14.7/15.1 266 12 nd2 0.94 ------------- WEATHER CONDITIONS ------------ Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 17:01 72 18 25 268 (W) 965 Clear none 18:01 72 19 18 247 (WSW) 993 Clear none 19:01 69 17 22 245 (WSW) 1183 Clear none 20:01 65 15 15 274 (W) 1152 Clear none 21:01 63 17 16 248 (WSW) 1331 Clear none 22:01 63 18 15 263 (W) 1440 Clear none 23:01 61 17 11 270 (W) 1618 Clear none 00:01 60 13 13 274 (W) 1431 Clear none 01:01 58 13 12 266 (W) 1610 Clear none 02:01 57 12 15 263 (W) 1938 Clear none 03:01 57 10 15 272 (W) 1652 Clear none 04:01 56 11 15 281 (W) 1701 Clear none 05:01 54 13 12 264 (W) 1637 Clear none 06:01 53 14 12 283 (WNW) 1572 Clear none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
