Seeing was consistently good first half (0.8-1.2 arcsec on guider, a little worse on the DIS slitviewer), but we stayed in the same part of the sky for hours. Second half, there was some trouble. Multiple guider failures in a fairly short space of time, some cases of primary mirror oscillation causing image elongation at low altitudes (twice at altitudes below 20 degrees, twice at altitudes ~30 degrees). Most of these took only a couple of minutes to deal with, but together they added up to some time loss. The weather also deteriorated around 03:00, with jumps in humidity and dust counts and a marked increase in seeing (2-3 arcsec, but we were often at high airmass). --------------- PROBLEM LOG ---------------- Time Time Problem - Fix Loss (H) PR# ------------------------------------------------------------------------- all front door night light out -- 2001145 01:00 instrument latch stiff -- email 01:30 NA2Guider failure - Reboot, reset ~0.1 -- 01:48 NA2Guider failure - 2x gcam init (older software) -- email 02:10 noted low alt primary oscillation/image elongation -- 2001146 02:20 NA2Guider failure - 1x gcam init -- -- 02:35 NA2Guider failure - multiple gcam init -- -- 02:43 noted primary osc. -- slewed up, back down 1u per 0.1 cubic feet.
