Telescope was found at checkout to be pointing near Zenith. I moved the telescope down to the horizon and back near zenith twice to prevent the primary from starting to oscillate (which can occur when the telescope is pointed at the Zenith). We had a firewall issue when the observer first logged in and tried FTP'ing test images to NMSU. Craig was on site and quickly fixed the problem with no time loss to observations. Craig will further investigate the problem/fix tommorow to see if he can prevent it from happening again. I opened the enclosure at 19:25. Turned instrument over to observer at 19:50. Everything ran very smooth again tonight. 2nd Half Observing Specialist: Russet McMillan Second half was very peaceful, with varying cirrus. The observer reported getting the "no flush, check electronics" error on three occasions, but that was out of more than 2000 images, so the error rate is still quite low. As usual, the next image was always fine, and the only real difficulty was with re-starting a script in the middle. --------------- INSTRUMENT FOCUS LOG ---------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM" ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:50 GrIm-f/5 -110(950) 84 63 8.6/10.9 258 20 J 1.18 22:15 GrIm-f/5 -90(887) 9 53 8.1/8.5 256 14 J 0.85 ------------- WEATHER CONDITIONS ------------ Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 55 21 24 241 (WSW) 728 clear none 17:01 55 17 18 245 (WSW) 602 clear none 18:01 53 18 19 259 (W) 757 lt. cirrus none 19:01 50 17 14 257 (WSW) 753 cirrus none 20:01 48 15 17 245 (WSW) 799 cirrus none 21:01 47 14 19 238 (WSW) 677 lt. cirrus none 22:01 47 15 18 270 (W) 773 lt. cirrus none 23:01 46 18 15 258 (WSW) 730 lt. cirrus none 00:01 46 19 16 265 (W) 874 lt. cirrus none 01:01 46 17 13 263 (W) 758 cirrus none 02:01 46 12 11 237 (WSW) 503 ptly cldy none 03:01 45 14 8 265 (W) 595 cirrus none 04:01 46 8 13 237 (WSW) 351 ptly cldy none 05:01 46 4 14 230 (SW) 249 cirrus none 06:01 45 0 20 222 (SW) 272 cirrus none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
