We ran into another problem with a clutch not disengaging, but was quicky fixed. We homed the tertiary again since the weather was not allowing us to open (High humidity). Opened enclosure at 20:30 just at borderline humidity closure to check pointing of the telescope after the work that was perform this afternoon on the tertiary problem. Pointing looked excellent. Russet helped the UCol people take some images with SPIcam while the 1st half observer traveled to his office (and generously donated the time for their use). They were very impressed with the resulting SPIcam images. Seeing was around 1.1 arc sec at 20 mins after opening. Fans were turned on at 21:00 as humidity slowly started to drop. Closed enclosure again at 22:35 due to rising and unstable humidity conditions. Fans were turned off. Opened enclosure again at 01:05 (fans also turned on). The telescope put the star near dead center on the chip after the instrument change and a tertrot. I also did a pointing correction during the course of the night, the observer couldn't find the desired object in his field. The error correction was very low and the star was easily found during the correction, which indicated that the tertiary was in the correct location. The observer decided that he may possibly have a bad locator map. No other incidents were reported of the telescope not locating the fields correctly. We Had a computer glitch (PR submitted) with Spicam writing to Tycho tonight. Took about 20 mins to diagnose/fix. Not sure if it was a problem with Dryrot or Tycho (just starting a new Dryrot window and Spicam quickly solved the problem). Sub arc second seeing latter part of 2nd half of the night. --------------- INSTRUMENT FOCUS LOG ---------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM" --------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:50 SPICam 125(943) -35 34 -1.5/1.5 318 4.2 Ha 1.1 20:53 NA2gdr -2897(58152) -34 33 -1.3/1.2 340 3.6 red 1.38 21:27 Echelle -64(-388) -128 51 -0.9/0.4 272 2.3 ND1 1.28 01:20 SPIcam 60(810) 253 27 -1.3/-1.2 23 7.6 z 1.13 01:32 NA2gdr 6000(67050) 257 25 -1.2/-1.3 6 5 red 1.68 03:32 SPICam 90(714) 331 49 0.2/0.0 19 3.1 z 0.76 03:32 NA2gdr 887(61937) 331 49 0.2/0.0 19 3.1 red 0.84 ------------- WEATHER CONDITIONS ------------ Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 30 29 12 24 (NNE) 117 Pt.
