It did subside around 21:30 MST, but there was a nice layer of ice left on everything. 2nd Half Observing Specialist: Russet McMillan Since the air was fairly warm, I ran the roof heaters for a few hours. The sky began to clear starting around 01:00, and when I inspected the catwalk and lower rails I found no snow and very little ice. The telescope was opened at 02:25 under clear skies. Only the humidity was threatening to be a problem as the telescope cooled, but it just barely reached the limit at twilight before dropping again. We had a few hiccups getting the guider started, and the focus was hard to follow even with the help of the guider because the telescope was so far out of equilibrium, but aside from that everything worked well. --------------- INSTRUMENT FOCUS LOG ---------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM" ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 02:50 SPIcam -475(363) 267 56 0.7/2.6 355 3 Halpha 1.56 03:17 NA2gdr -5000(55000) 301 44 0.6/2.0 359 12 none 1.45 03:57 SPIcam -225(598) 276 42 0.4/1.3 356 7 Halpha 2.10 ------------- WEATHER CONDITIONS ------------ Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 47 20 10 257 (WSW) 624 Cloudy none 17:01 45 18 7 264 (W) 752 Cloudy none 18:01 43 19 2 273 (W) 704 Cloudy none 19:01 41 22 7 332 (NNW) 703 Cloudy rain 20:01 32 31 26 24 (NNE) 109 Cloudy rain/snow 21:01 34 30 6 7 (N) 399 Cloudy rain 22:01 35 28 12 18 (NNE) 310 Cloudy none 23:01 36 25 15 344 (NNW) 412 cloudy none 00:01 36 25 8 344 (NNW) 388 cloudy none 01:01 34 27 3 357 (N) 451 mstly cldy none 02:01 33 26 14 14 (NNE) 463 mstly clr none 03:01 33 26 8 14 (NNE) 503 clear none 04:01 33 25 9 14 (NNE) 478 clear none 05:01 31 27 7 0 (N) 487 clear none 06:01 32 24 4 1 (N) 443 clear none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
