We did not open until 18:55 MST due to grating switches and observer calibrations, but all went smoothly. Once science observing started early and the seeing was again amazing according to the guider. DIS is limited by optics to about 1", so it was performing at its best. Clouds became too thick to observe the faint targets this program was looking at around 21:50. It cleared up again at 22:20 and we continued for the rest of the night with stable and excellent seeing. --------------- INSTRUMENT FOCUS LOG ---------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM" ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:59 DIS Slit -30(876) -39 59 7.8/9.0 209 14 none 1.01" 19:10 NA2 Gdr 3000(874) -41 58 7.6/8.9 196 12 none 0.66" 20:07 DIS Slit -120(669) -03 76 6.1/7.1 182 12 none 1.01" 20:08 NA2 Gdr 240(670) -04 76 6.1/6.9 188 12 none 0.78" 21:21 DIS Slit -020(745) -79 67 5.8/6.0 188 13 none 0.97" 21:23 NA2 Gdr -933(745) -79 67 5.8/6.0 180 14 none 0.87" ------------- WEATHER CONDITIONS ------------ Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 51 28 8 220 (SW) 734 Clear none 17:01 49 28 13 219 (SW) 739 Clear none 18:01 46 25 10 210 (SSW) 654 Clear none 19:01 43 26 14 207 (SSW) 819 Clear none 20:01 43 30 12 183 (S) 1056 Cirrus none 21:01 43 24 12 189 (S) 962 Cirrus none 22:01 44 20 14 185 (S) 768 Cirrus none 23:01 44 24 8 203 (SSW) 924 cirrus none 00:01 44 21 11 214 (SW) 834 Clear none 01:01 44 22 11 219 (SW) 855 Clear none 02:01 43 25 8 245 (WSW) 879 Clear none 03:01 42 29 11 226 (SW) 951 Clear none 04:01 41 32 12 212 (SSW) 1217 Clear none 05:01 42 31 10 246 (WSW) 1112 Clear none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
