Startup went smooth and no troubles other than weather. 2nd half Observing Specialist: Russet McMillan Second half continued cirrusy, although it thinned almost to nothing for a little while before coming back and thickening. Seeing ranged from 0.6 to 1.2 arcseconds. I had to change the guider binning to work through best of the seeing. As on the last few nights, I was able to use the guider successfully to predict focus changes (from 0 to 60 and back down again) without having to pause for actual focus runs. This might mean the guider has some promise for a closed-focus system, although currently the focus can only be adjusted between science exposures. --------------- INSTRUMENT FOCUS LOG ---------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM" ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:25 SPIcam +100(1057) 222 46 5.6/5.9 233 0 i' 0.66" 19:27 NA2 Gdr +800(1054) 223 46 5.6/5.9 234 1 none 0.82" 21:46 NA2 Gdr -220(872) -15 55 4.9/4.9 118 0 none 0.98" ------------- WEATHER CONDITIONS ------------ Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 45 32 2 249 (WSW) 468 Cirrus None 17:01 46 32 4 263 (W) 479 Cirrus None 18:01 41 32 1 90 (E) 616 Cirrus None 19:01 41 32 1 100 (E) 708 Cirrus None 20:01 42 25 0 242 (WSW) 559 Cirrus None 21:01 40 27 0 161 (SSE) 713 Cirrus None 22:01 42 24 0 180 (S) 483 Cirrus None 23:01 42 24 0 213 (SSW) 481 cirrus none 00:01 42 22 5 244 (WSW) 460 cirrus none 01:01 42 24 5 216 (SW) 508 cirrus none 02:01 43 20 5 233 (SW) 396 cirrus none 03:01 43 18 5 211 (SSW) 381 cirrus none 04:01 42 19 5 252 (WSW) 433 ptly cldy none 05:01 42 20 5 266 (W) 567 ptly cldy none 06:01 39 21 7 265 (W) 646 ptly cldy none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
