This went quickly and the alignment and focus actually look improved. We took about an hour in the early PM to check for any possible scattered light from the small chip found in the corrector, but found no scatter. The blue camera is back together and performing wonderfully. We switched back over to SPIcam on time with no troubles, all ran smoothly except for the clouds that slowly moved in. As the night went on we did see quite a few focus shifts of large value. The clouds dissipated later on and things seemed to smooth out. 2nd half Observing Specialist: Russet McMillan The weather was clear with subarcsecond seeing at the beginning of second half, but quickly degraded as soon as the SDSS imager was mounted. Shortly after midnight, the wind shifted to the east, with an accompanying jump in humidity and dust. The seeing increased to poor/awful (1.5 to 5 arcseconds, depending on the telescope's azimuth relative to the wind direction), and a few clouds lurked on the horizon. The humidity reached the limit just as the observer finished twilight flats. When I closed there was a fog army just a quarter mile away, marching over the hills to lay seige to the observatory. --------------- INSTRUMENT FOCUS LOG ---------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM" ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:06 DIS Image -30(908) - 39 59 8.7/9.7 261 2 r' 1.10" 19:16 NA2 Gdr -1000(902) - 40 59 8.7/9.6 261 3 none 0.80" 20:27 SPIcam -10(1008) -147 52 7.4/8.0 217 7 i' 0.85" 20:40 NA2 Gdr -982(1007) 12 61 7.4/7.9 197 6 none 1.08" 21:40 SPIcam -75(870) 78 60 6.4/6.9 264 5 r' 1.07" 21:44 NA2 Gdr 0(871) 79 60 6.4/6.9 236 5 none 1.47" 23:36 SPIcam 0(1016) 193 51 7.2/6.4 10 1 i' 0.85 02:41 SPIcam -75(782) 26 55 1.8/2.6 75 25 i' 1.87 ------------- WEATHER CONDITIONS ------------ Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 51 15 16 274 (W) 309 cirrus none 17:01 53 14 9 238 (WSW) 356 cirrus none 18:01 48 16 8 310 (NW) 376 cirrus none 19:01 47 14 1 270 (W) 444 cirrus none 20:01 46 10 10 209 (SSW) 457 cloudy none 21:01 45 7 5 212 (SSW) 371 cloudy none 22:01 45 7 1 257 (WSW) 322 clear none 23:01 46 6 0 257 (WSW) 297 clear none 00:01 46 6 3 46 (NE) 305 clear none 01:01 40 22 18 70 (ENE) 567 mstly clr none 02:01 36 27 22 67 (ENE) 523 mstly clr none 03:01 35 26 20 72 (ENE) 437 mstly clr none 04:01 33 27 25 68 (ENE) 453 clear none 05:01 33 28 20 66 (ENE) 612 clear none 06:01 31 29 27 74 (ENE) 729 fog fog note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
