Jon Brinkman and I made some changes to the IRSC chopper wheel which rectified the problems from last night, so the cloud cam is again operational but not running at 100%. The clouds cleared enough to open at 19:50 MST and all started smoothly. We focused under cirrus filled skies with decent seeing. Telescope pointing was good, but not as good as the last couple nights. A local pointing correction fixed it. I was received tertiary errors again tonight. "Fit Error too large for Tert" and "Could not compute tert orient" 2nd half Observing Specialist: Russet McMillan We battled varying cloudiness and generally poor seeing during second half. The telescope was closed for about an hour after midnight; the clouds weren't particularly threatening, but they were preventing us from getting anything useful. The observer decided to give up around 04:40 due to the clouds. --------------- INSTRUMENT FOCUS LOG ---------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM" ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 21:59 DISslit -120(465) 45 74 1.3/1.9 190 15 none 1.10" 22:04 NA2 Gdr 201(465) 43 75 1.2/1.9 200 12 none 1.01" 23:46 DISslit 0(650) 149 51 0.7/0.8 193 22 - 1.29 ------------- WEATHER CONDITIONS ------------ Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 36 9 9 186 (S) 1733 cloudy none 17:01 35 7 2 185 (S) 1306 cloudy none 18:01 34 10 10 207 (SSW) 965 cloudy none 19:01 34 12 9 210 (SSW) 1258 cloudy none 20:01 34 12 17 212 (SSW) 1202 cloudy none 21:01 34 11 14 195 (SSW) 1385 cloudy none 22:01 34 10 17 202 (SSW) 1769 cirrus none 23:01 34 11 16 196 (SSW) 1787 cloudy none 00:01 34 15 23 196 (SSW) 1477 mstly cldy none 01:01 32 15 19 199 (SSW) 1533 ptly cldy none 02:01 32 15 17 206 (SSW) 1436 ptly cldy none 03:01 31 15 14 220 (SW) 1527 ptly cldy none 04:01 30 16 13 227 (SW) 1767 ptly cldy none 05:01 30 16 14 254 (WSW) 1778 ptly cldy none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
