Partly cloudy skies. No troubles encountered in startup and first half ran smoothly. Clouds grew thick as the night went on and we closed at 23:42. Observing Specialist, 2nd Shift: Russet McMillan Second half started with thick clouds and some precipitation showing nearby on radar, but we were able to open after about 03:00 when the clouds cleared off. Seeing was quite variable, jumping from about 1.0 to 1.5 arcseconds on short timescales. The observers had trouble at first getting the slitviewer control program to run at their end, so I ran it for a little while. Eventually they got the problem straightened out, and everything else went quite smoothly. --------------- INSTRUMENT FOCUS LOG ---------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM" --------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:49 Echelle +30(-192) 201 50 2.1/2.8 191 10 ND2 1.49" 21:10 Echelle +61(-281) 226 67 1.3/1.3 234 13 ND1 1.09" 22:50 Echelle +51(-271) 257 48 0.1/0.2 265 8 ND1 1.15" 03:16 DISslit -120(464) 221 52 -0.8/-0.5 296 10 - 1.18 03:18 NA2gdr -4338(51661) 222 52 -0.8/-0.6 285 6 none 0.98 ------------- WEATHER CONDITIONS ------------ Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 42 18 7 257 (WSW) 440 ptly cldy none 17:01 38 17 11 267 (W) 545 ptly cldy none 18:01 37 17 8 254 (WSW) 564 ptly cldy none 19:01 35 16 6 196 (SSW) 864 ptly cldy none 20:01 35 16 10 233 (SW) 915 ptly cldy none 21:01 34 17 12 224 (SW) 1147 ptly cldy none 22:01 33 18 13 236 (SW) 890 ptly cldy none 23:01 32 19 7 266 (W) 846 msty cldy none 00:01 33 19 11 293 (WNW) 568 msty cldy none 01:01 32 19 8 254 (WSW) 588 msty cldy none 02:01 31 20 9 241 (WSW) 541 msty cldy none 03:01 31 20 5 272 (W) 617 ptly cldy none 04:01 30 20 12 303 (WNW) 563 mstly clr none 05:01 29 20 11 332 (NNW) 525 clear none 06:01 30 18 8 317 (NW) 487 clear none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
