Enclosure opened at 18:05. Remark seemed to crash on both the remote observers and APO Mac at 21:00 (perhaps a network connection problem more than a Remark problem). Neither of us could send commands/messages. We could however hang up and re-connect to the MC, which seemed to fix the problem. There was an Echelle read problem after that which I had to abort from the MC. After that things seemed to run ok. Sorry for lack of details, things just stopped working on Remark other than I could hang up and re-connect. About 15 mins were lost due to the problems. The humidity fluctuated near the closure for most of the first half, but never quite surpassed it, so I made the decision to stay open and continue to allow the observer to stay on the sky. No problems otherwise. Observing Specialist, 2nd Shift: Russet McMillan The humidity went up, it went down, it went up . . . I took a few minutes to move the telescope to low altitude and check for frost on the top end. There was no sign of any condensation, and I allowed the observers to resume while I kept watching the weather. The dewpoint didn't make a really determined run up to the limit until morning twilight. Aside from that, it was a lovely night, with clear skies and good seeing and no telescope or instrument problems at all. --------------- INSTRUMENT FOCUS LOG ---------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM" --------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:48 Echelle -70(-532) 109 47 -3.7/-3.0 266 15 none 1.32 00:29 GrIm2(f/10) 50(566) 246 35 -5.3/-5.7 307 16 J 0.87 00:29 NA2gdr 665(60715) 246 35 -5.3/-5.7 307 16 Red 0.98 02:10 GrIm2(f/10) -25( ) J 0.66 04:18 GrIm2(f/10) -50(402) -9 59 -4.9/-5.4 299 14 J 0.70 ------------- WEATHER CONDITIONS ------------ Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 29 15 18 255 (WSW) 632 pt. cly none 17:01 30 18 14 255 (WSW) 386 pt. cly none 18:01 28 17 16 259 (W) 485 Clear none 19:01 25 18 19 278 (W) 422 Clear none 20:01 24 19 18 287 (WNW) 515 mstly clr none 21:01 23 18 16 269 (W) 313 mstly clr none 22:01 23 18 8 296 (WNW) 202 mstly clr none 23:01 24 17 16 297 (WNW) 223 Clear none 00:01 22 18 18 314 (NW) 224 clear none 01:01 25 15 9 296 (WNW) 97 clear none 02:01 24 15 22 307 (NW) 112 clear none 03:01 24 15 9 283 (WNW) 110 clear none 04:01 23 15 2 289 (WNW) 108 clear none 05:01 21 17 10 324 (NW) 132 clear none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
