All started up well except the Echelle again had cooling problems. Craig and I visually checked certain solenoid operations and then I manually cooled the CCD again after the shield had cooled automatically. It appears that the CCD temperature sensor may be failing. Early on, the pointing with the Echelle was very poor. I made two corrections and that seemed to clear it up. Bob Lowenstein logged on and used some of Don's time to test Echelle auto-guider routines. Echelle observations after that seemed to run smoothly. Observing Specialist, 2nd Shift: Jack Dembicky 2nd half started without any problems. Change-over occured at 00:05. GRIM was only reading out the bottom 1/2 of the chips (top half was all grey) and needed to be power cycled & its ICC rebooted. This caused the instrument switch to take about 7 mins longer than scheduled. Everything ran smoothly otherwise with no further problems the rest of the night. --------------- INSTRUMENT FOCUS LOG ---------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM" --------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:20 Echelle 166(224) 165 71 -0.7/+0.2 195 3 clear 0.71" 00:15 GrIm f/5 -110(372) -148 60 -3.8/-3.4 153 14 J 1.02" 00:43 NA2gdr -3785(55215) -136 56 -3.3/-3.6 171 20 none 1.41" 01:55 GrIm f/5 -50(440) 183 56 -2.9/-3.4 155 16 J 1.37" ------------- WEATHER CONDITIONS ------------ Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 33 11 5 268 (W) 683 Clear None 17:01 32 11 1 235 (SW) 679 Clear None 18:01 28 -8 3 196 (SSW) 481 Clear None 19:01 29 -17 7 186 (S) 390 Clear None 20:01 30 -17 13 179 (S) 332 Clear None 21:01 29 -17 16 179 (S) 290 Clear None 22:01 30 -17 17 178 (S) 284 Clear None 23:01 28 -14 18 166 (SSE) 341 Clear None 00:01 27 -8 14 152 (SSE) 274 Clear None 01:01 27 -6 21 192 (SSW) 192 Lt.
