All systems tested normally and things ran smoothly. Seeing was much improved from the last few days and all program switches were fast and smooth. The last few nights we seems to be able to switch to and from the Echelle in about 2-3 minutes if all goes well. Pointing corrections were behaving well. Observing Specialist, 2nd Shift: Jack Dembicky The Echelle was running smoothly when I arrived. I went up into the enclosure to do the inst. change over for the 2nd half observers at 00:00 and started focusing the instrument for them at 00:22. They crashed their mac shortly after that (not related to my focusing) and were back at 00:40. I handed the focused instrument over to them at when they came back online. Sub arc second seeing for the 2nd half with GRIM in J (despite some cirrus early in the 2nd half of the night). Everything ran smoothly for the entire night. --------------- INSTRUMENT FOCUS LOG ---------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM" --------------------------------------------------------------------- 17:52 Echelle -136(276) 193 65 +2.8/+6.0 284 6 ND2 1.21" 20:01 SPIcam 0(783) 140 61 +2.8/+3.4 346 3 B 0.76" 20:57 Echelle 50(???) 314 43 +4.4/+3.2 8 3 Clear 0.98" 00:22 GrIm f/5 -20(725) 176 58 +3.3/+2.9 337 4 J 0.95" 00:35 NA2gdr -987(58012) 182 58 +2.4/+2.8 310 7 none 03:35 GrIm f/5 -70(619) 301 84 +3.1/+2.5 310 12 J 0.57" ------------- WEATHER CONDITIONS ------------ Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 43 22 0 294 (WNW) 288 Cirrus None 17:01 40 23 6 253 (WSW) 322 Cirrus None 18:01 36 21 8 296 (WNW) 309 Cirrus None 19:01 38 19 7 358 (N) 247 Cirrus None 20:01 38 17 17 9 (N) 235 Cirrus None 21:01 41 13 8 31 (NNE) 214 Cirrus None 22:01 38 16 15 14 (NNE) 207 Cirrus None 23:01 38 16 12 4 (N) 130 Cirrus None 00:01 39 19 3 346 (NNW) 218 Cirrus None 02:01 38 21 11 323 (NW) 223 Clear None 03:01 36 20 7 345 (NNW) 209 Clear None 04:01 37 19 6 314 (NW) 249 Clear None 05:01 39 19 7 286 (WNW) 214 Clear None 06:01 39 20 12 326 (NW) 240 Clear None note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
