Observing Specialist, 2nd Shift: Russet McMillan The humidity dropped very gradually after midnight, finally going low enough long enough to open after 0100. Although the fans were turned on about half an hour before opening, the telescope was still very warm at first, and the seeing was quite bad. Over a few hours, the images dropped from >2 arcsec to about 1.2 arcsec, with occasional stretches of subarcsecond seeing. Aside from a few clouds and continuing concerns about the dewpoint being too close to the telescope temperature, everything went smoothly and many targets were observed. --------------- INSTRUMENT FOCUS LOG ---------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM" --------------------------------------------------------------------- 01:43 DISslit -350(201) 148 32 -4.1/-3.1 302 13 - 2.2 01:57 NA2gdr -1000(56050) 151 33 -4.3/-3.3 286 9 Red 1.58 02:41 DISslit -200(218) 52 60 -4.1/-3.7 300 15 - 1.4 03:12 DISslit -100(299) 55 68 -4.1/-3.9 309 16 - 1.1 03:12 NA2gdr 1000(57000) 55 68 -4.1/-4.0 313 15 none 1.03 ------------- WEATHER CONDITIONS ------------ Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 28 27 24 265 (W) 201 Cloudy none 17:01 28 26 20 245 (WSW) 180 pt. cldy none 18:01 26 24 12 266 (W) 185 clear none 19:01 25 23 12 293 (WNW) 179 clear none 20:01 25 22 11 273 (W) 187 clear none 21:01 25 21 14 299 (WNW) 285 clear none 22:01 25 21 9 293 (WNW) 356 clear none 23:01 25 21 12 281 (W) 319 clear none 00:01 25 21 12 284 (WNW) 273 mstly clr none 01:01 25 20 15 294 (WNW) 260 mstly clr none 02:01 25 18 11 318 (NW) 237 mstly clr none 03:01 25 17 13 311 (NW) 280 mstly clr none 04:01 24 18 13 304 (NW) 298 cirrus none 05:01 24 18 12 300 (WNW) 318 mstly clr none 06:01 24 18 7 281 (W) 361 ptly cldy none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
