DIS has been mounted all day long so Jon could take cals during the day. He requested that I not home the instrument and he would check the calibrations since he did not want the turet/slit wheel to be moved. This should not be a problem since the instrument was never moved from last night and he had been taking data during the day. I did reboot the PC in the computer room, performed a 'dis init' and 'dis_define_gratings'. I don't believe they moved the turet/slit wheel. Louvers were closed at 17:00 for observer to do cals. Opened enclosure at 18:00 and turned the instrument for full operations to the observer at 18:10. Louvers opened again at 18:35. Things ran smooth. Observing Specialist, 2nd Shift: Noel Camron Hastings Started the evening with a focus and all ran smoothly. The seeing was exceptional around 0.6". --------------- INSTRUMENT FOCUS LOG ---------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM" --------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:30 DIS-Med -150(772) 53 35 4.3/6.9 273 11 none 1.77" 18:43 NA2gdr 973(58023) 37 53 4.2/6.6 270 10 red 2.06" 21:13 DIS-Med 50(746) 52 62 5.2/4.4 288 17 none 1.20" 00:45 DIS Slit 0(699) -44 69 4.3/4.4 273 10 none 1.00" 00:50 NA2 Gdr -1850(55201) -47 67 4.3/4.3 274 21 none 0.61" ------------- WEATHER CONDITIONS ------------ Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 46 1 16 292 (WNW) 208 lt. cirrus none 17:01 44 6 9 269 (W) 269 lt. cirrus none 18:01 39 13 11 288 (WNW) 382 lt. cirrus none 19:01 39 11 13 266 (W) 417 clear none 20:01 41 12 17 276 (W) 384 clear none 21:01 41 9 10 270 (W) 397 clear none 22:01 41 10 16 297 (WNW) 373 clear none 23:01 41 11 10 274 (W) 376 lt. cirrus none 00:01 41 12 16 270 (W) 432 clear none 01:01 40 14 16 274 (W) 416 clear none 02:01 39 15 13 306 (NW) 416 clear none 03:01 39 15 10 277 (W) 411 ptly cldy none 04:01 39 16 9 277 (W) 469 clear none 05:01 39 14 9 269 (W) 374 clear none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
