I switched gratings out tonight from high to medium resolution in DIS and calibrated. The observer showed up at 17:30 MST and was finished with cals by 18:25 MST, so we opened at 18:30 MST to cool for 5-10 minutes before starting. Clouds hampered observations all evening with some holes to shoot through. When we could see stars, the seeing and pointing were very good. Observing Specialist, 2nd Shift: Russet McMillan Everything went smoothly second half aside from a few hours of dodging clouds. Eventually the clouds cleared, and the seeing was fairly good. --------------- INSTRUMENT FOCUS LOG ---------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM" --------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:40 DIS Slit 50(912) 203 47 4.8/5.8 200 20 none 1.09" 18:44 NA2 Gdr -748(907) 203 47 4.7/5.6 201 17 none 0.92" 23:54 DISslit 25(755) 211 64 3.7/3.5 188 26 - 1.20 ------------- WEATHER CONDITIONS ------------ Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 45 8 9 226 (SW) 548 mstly cldy none 17:01 43 12 16 219 (SW) 586 mstly cldy none 18:01 40 11 14 183 (S) 685 mstly cldy none 19:01 40 12 15 211 (SSW) 1178 mstly cldy none 20:01 40 13 17 197 (SSW) 919 mstly cldy none 21:01 39 18 15 173 (S) 593 mstly cldy none 22:01 39 20 18 185 (S) 514 mstly cldy none 23:01 39 23 18 181 (S) 489 mstly cldy none 00:01 39 25 15 181 (S) 348 ptly cldy none 01:01 38 25 18 182 (S) 315 mstly cldy none 02:01 38 26 22 190 (S) 363 mstly cldy none 03:01 36 29 19 195 (SSW) 370 mstly clr none 04:01 35 27 20 186 (S) 377 mstly clr none 05:01 35 27 18 186 (S) 489 mstly clr none 06:01 33 28 9 213 (SSW) 359 mstly clr none 07:01 34 27 19 201 (SSW) 200 mstly clr none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
