Enclosure fans were turned on and louvers opened at 15:15. I opened the enclosure at 15:50. I observed 2237 under 0.8 arc sec seeing tonight. Everything ran smoothly for the first half. 2nd Half Observing Specialist: Russet McMillan Second half remained clear and apparently photometric. High winds before midnight caused mediocre seeing with a strong position dependence. Later the wind dropped and the seeing improved, but it was still a challenge to keep up with the changing focus as the temperature dropped. Everything worked well except the cloud camera; its cryogen hold time has decreased to less than three hours, and it will be taken out of service tomorrow for pumping. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG/INST FAILURE MODE TIME S/E/G/D/O TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION -------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 17:52 SPIcam -110(249) 219 55 -2.7/-1.1 358 14 r' 0.82 17:55 NA2gdr 1492(62492) 219 55 -2.7/-1.1 358 14 R 1.11 19:37 Echelle -33(-772) 100 58 -2.3/-2.5 20 11 ND1 1.40 21:10 Echelle 6(-724) 295 56 -1.9/-2.6 11 15 ND1 1.40 22:04 Echelle -16(-700) 127 47 -2.0/-2.7 14 17 ND1 1.17 00:19 SPIcam 25(437) 225 41 -1.9/-2.5 18 21 i' 2.12 02:26 SPIcam 25(420) 141 53 -1.6/-2.0 190 7 i' 0.97 03:23 SPIcam -50(346) 38 46 -2.1/-2.5 197 5 i' 0.96 04:30 SPIcam -100(287) 114 41 -3.0/-3.0 199 3 i' 1.13 --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 31 -13 15 1 (N) 22 Clear none 17:01 29 -12 12 10 (N) 35 Clear none 18:01 27 -11 13 31 (NNE) 29 Clear none 19:01 27 -11 15 1 (N) 27 Clear none 20:01 28 -8 21 18 (NNE) 30 Clear none 21:01 29 -1 21 8 (N) 53 Clear none 22:01 29 -2 13 28 (NNE) 64 Clear none 23:01 29 -3 25 21 (NNE) 51 clear none 00:01 29 -5 20 24 (NNE) 61 clear none 01:01 30 -5 16 35 (NE) 25 clear none 02:01 31 -7 1 214 (SW) 29 clear none 03:01 28 -5 4 208 (SSW) 30 clear none 04:01 26 -5 2 201 (SSW) 37 clear none 05:01 26 -3 1 182 (S) 42 clear none 06:01 28 -4 0 169 (SSE) 28 clear none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
