Brian logged in shortly thereafter and started taking flats once the cirrus cleared in the eastern sky by 17:30. Sky remained cirrusy for the remainder of the first half with seeing between 1.0-1.2 arcsec. 2nd Half Observing Specialist: R.McMillan Second half had continued cirrus and moderate seeing. The focus showed some of the same behavior as last night, although it was less sensitive because the seeing was not as good tonight. The remote observer had a little trouble with some image-viewing software at her end, causing a short delay. The guider failed due to timed-out communications just a few minutes before the beginning of twilight; we didn't stop observing to fix it. ----------- OBSERVER COMMENTS ------------ P.Szkody (UW08): The night was usable but not easy to get spectra of faint objects with the cirrus. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG/INST FAILURE MODE TIME S/E/G/D/O TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION -------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:02 SPIcam 100(836) 216 41 4.1/4.7 155 20 r' 0.98 18:08 NA2gdr 1185(62185) 217 40 4.1/4.6 150 17 R 1.26 19:20 SPIcam 50(743) 208 53 5.2/4.8 180 11 r' 1.15 22:42 SPIcam 200(875) 36 57 3.2/4.3 178 8 r' 1.12 22:45 SPIcam -75(594) 36 58 3.1/4.3 175 11 r' 1.12 00:17 DISslit -75(399) -26 67 3.9/3.1 198 15 - 1.22 --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 43 3 13 134 (SE) 172 mstly clr none 17:01 40 -6 17 143 (SE) 105 mstly clr none 18:01 39 -19 18 155 (SSE) 212 mstly clr none 19:01 41 -5 16 181 (S) 169 cirrus none 20:01 40 3 8 181 (S) 201 cirrus none 21:01 43 1 14 185 (S) 75 cirrus none 22:01 42 1 11 180 (S) 153 cirrus none 23:01 38 11 6 190 (S) 298 cirrus none 00:01 37 12 13 184 (S) 270 cirrus none 01:01 38 16 12 206 (SSW) 286 cirrus none 02:01 38 17 18 183 (S) 391 cirrus none 03:01 38 18 21 204 (SSW) 397 cirrus none 04:01 39 17 18 212 (SSW) 409 cirrus none 05:01 39 16 18 217 (SW) 300 ptly cldy none 06:01 39 16 20 210 (SSW) 200 mstly clr none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
