No problems encountered in startup. Things ran smoothly all night. 2nd Half Observing Specialist: Russet McMillan Second half was clear and apparently photometric, with excellent seeing. The FTS transition went more smoothly than last night, and we were soon on the sky. There was only a brief delay when the TCC got hung up trying to communicate with the improperly initialized guider; the software worked normally after a restart. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG/INST FAILURE MODE TIME S/E/G/D/O TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION -------------------------------------------------------------------- UW09/O T/S 00:38 00:46 TCC software needed restart ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 17:25 GRIM f/5 -75(419) 165 37 3.7/5.1 173 3 J 0.78 19:40 GRIM f/5 0(452) 210 54 3.8/3.7 182 11 J 0.83 00:37 FTS -100(294) 176 52 3.6/3.5 180 10 all 0.99 --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 43 19 8 266 (W) 183 cirrus none 17:01 39 17 6 181 (S) 193 cirrus none 18:01 38 9 4 182 (S) 90 cirrus none 19:01 38 20 9 181 (S) 174 ptly cldy none 20:01 40 4 7 182 (S) 43 cirrus none 21:01 40 6 13 182 (S) 37 clear none 22:01 40 7 12 180 (S) 31 clear none 23:01 40 13 13 192 (SSW) 30 clear none 00:01 39 18 12 169 (SSE) 65 clear none 01:01 39 18 8 181 (S) 118 clear none 02:01 38 20 11 199 (SSW) 175 clear none 03:01 38 22 11 181 (S) 209 clear none 04:01 37 24 10 185 (S) 220 clear none 05:01 38 19 8 220 (SW) 216 clear none 06:01 40 8 10 251 (WSW) 125 clear none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
