All startup went smoothly again tonight. High winds, but clear skies. I took flats in 6 filters tonight to make things easier on Rene's program and the second half observers. 2nd Half Observing Specialist: Russet McMillan Second half went smoothly. The seeing and humidity were both bad for a period around midnight, but the seeing improved when the humidity dropped. Fast-moving orographic clouds, invisible on the satellite or radar, began to move in shortly after 04:00, and the telescope was closed at 04:25 as the clouds grew thicker. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG/INST FAILURE TIME S/E/G/D/O TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION -------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 17:45 SPIcam 0(478) 190 60 2.0/2.3 187 25 g' 1.39 17:48 NA2 Gdr 1284(62274) 191 60 2.0/2.3 188 21 R 1.43 01:24 SPIcam 25(413) -18 70 -0.1/-1.5 231 21 z' 0.91 01:27 NA2gdr 43(61043) -19 69 -0.1/-1.5 214 25 clear 1.09 --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 38 14 18 179 (S) 248 clear none 17:01 36 14 13 189 (S) 331 clear none 18:01 36 14 24 187 (S) 410 clear none 19:01 34 18 23 187 (S) 437 clear none 20:01 33 18 22 207 (SSW) 567 clear none 21:01 33 15 20 183 (S) 827 clear none 22:01 32 24 25 205 (SSW) 474 clear none 23:01 30 24 22 207 (SSW) 488 clear none 00:01 30 21 20 204 (SSW) 690 clear none 01:01 32 10 19 228 (SW) 478 clear none 02:01 32 11 25 211 (SSW) 413 clear none 03:01 31 11 19 204 (SSW) 456 clear none 04:01 30 11 22 200 (SSW) 588 ptly cldy none 05:01 30 14 25 201 (SSW) 474 mstly cldy none 06:01 28 12 17 198 (SSW) 604 mstly cldy none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
