McMillan The telescope was opened for a short while during twilight, but the humidity reached the limit before the end of twilight and we had to close. We didn't quite manage to get focused before closing, but indications were that the seeing was very poor. The humidity remained high until 22:15, when it looked promising enough to open and start observing. Second Half Observing Specialist: C. Hastings Clouds an humidity kept us closed much of second half. We opened at around 02:20 to focus under mostly cloudy skies and bad seeing. I had to RUN when the rain sensor went off with 70% humidity. It seems the clouds were moving in and out way to fast for the sensors to accurately track and rain blew in. It was VERY light, I did not notice anything on the mirror, but closed and remained VERY cautious after that realizing that the humidity was a poor marker of moisture in conditions such as these. We remained closed for the night. ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 22:43 GFP 0(590) 85 61 0.3/1.0 79 11 4050 2.0 " 02:27 SPICam 50(618) -70 38 2.3/1.9 139 11 r' 2.34" --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 37 26 17 71 (ENE) 410 clear none 17:01 33 27 22 67 (ENE) 405 clear none 18:01 30 27 19 72 (ENE) 391 clear none 19:01 30 27 18 74 (ENE) 397 clear none 20:01 30 27 17 68 (ENE) 365 ptly cldy none 21:01 32 27 16 75 (ENE) 452 ptly cldy none 22:01 32 28 11 81 (E) 450 ptly cldy none 23:01 33 27 12 88 (E) 469 mstly clr none 00:01 35 28 8 123 (ESE) 508 mstly cldy none 01:01 35 29 11 124 (SE) 402 cloudy none 02:01 36 29 15 133 (SE) 401 cloudy rain/snow? 03:01 37 29 16 128 (SE) 554 cloudy none 04:01 38 31 18 126 (SE) 409 cloudy none 05:01 37 30 14 132 (SE) 472 cloudy none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
