We didn't have much luck with the on-sky time due to fast-moving clouds and the pointing problems caused by the tertiary error. The seeing was also poor and variable. Some trouble with the Shack-Hartmann also showed up, although it probably cost us no time since the seeing was unusable. 2nd Half Observing Specialist: Jack Dembicky The clouds grew thicker as I started around 21:30. The winds also started gusting around 22:30 but diminished about an hour later. Clouds prevented any observations for the remainder of the night. I did perform a couple alt sweeps for the vel.scale measurements but the temp in the dome never really changed much during the corse of the night. The FTS people left their instrument mounted on the NA2 port so that they can work on it more tommorow. They know that they will need to remove it during evening checkout tommorow so that we can mount DIS for the program before theirs tommorow evening. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG/INST FAILURE MODE TIME S/E/G/D/O TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION -------------------------------------------------------------------- EN01/O I/H 18:20 18:20 S-H giving bad ref images ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:47 DISslit -150(84) 50 63 -2.6/-2.2 270 14 - 1.73 --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 31 4 16 281 (W) 239 ptly cldy none 17:01 30 5 12 276 (W) 220 ptly cldy none 18:01 28 0 18 277 (W) 237 ptly cldy none 19:01 30 8 13 296 (WNW) 202 ptly cldy none 20:01 27 -5 17 275 (W) 248 ptly cldy none 21:01 27 -3 18 276 (W) 295 ptly cldy none 22:01 26 5 19 266 (W) 398 cloudy none 23:01 26 7 25 268 (W) 407 cloudy none 00:01 26 7 30 273 (W) 386 cloudy none 01:01 26 6 27 265 (W) 364 cloudy none 02:01 25 8 16 271 (W) 443 cloudy none 03:01 25 9 13 259 (W) 529 cloudy none 04:01 25 8 15 267 (W) 533 cloudy none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
