Seeing was over 2 arcsec on the first focus and appeared to remain poor all evening. We had a few mysterious blank spectra that should have been QTH flats, but the lamp worked correctly when we tried again later. There was also a brief problem with a timeout error on the slitviewer, but it didn't take long to fix it. Otherwise, everything worked well, and the echelle autoguider did a good job dealing with the jumpy seeing. 2nd Half Observing Specialist: Jack Dembicky Everything rans smoothly tonight and the seeing was excellent with measurements at 0.66 arc sec at 2.22 microns!!! Lots of great images taken of Jupiter and Saturn tonight. ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 17:55 Echelle -65(-127) 96 38 8.0/9.6 267 13 ND3 2.17 00:37 GrIm-f/10 40(576) 134 69 7.3/6.7 302 11 1.58u 0.83 --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 50 34 7 265 (W) 311 ptly cldy none 17:01 49 34 6 267 (W) 294 ptly cldy none 18:01 46 33 10 256 (WSW) 284 mstly clr none 19:01 46 33 14 269 (W) 237 clear none 20:01 46 33 11 264 (W) 259 clear none 21:01 46 33 10 262 (W) 226 clear none 22:01 46 33 9 268 (W) 356 clear none 23:01 45 33 8 267 (W) 270 clear none 00:01 45 33 4 291 (WNW) 200 clear none 01:01 45 32 5 341 (NNW) 197 clear none 02:01 45 33 5 12 (NNE) 203 clear none 03:01 43 32 8 324 (NW) 202 clear none 04:01 45 32 6 334 (NNW) 163 clear none 05:01 43 31 6 347 (NNW) 296 clear none 06:01 45 32 8 317 (NW) 229 clear none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
