Barentine Opened at 18:50 under clearing skies and moderate winds. Clouds were intermittent during most of the first half but did not unduly interrupt observations. Don noted the slitviewer problem (freezing up) documented in Russet's PR of tonight. We also experienced some net slowdown around 22:15. Cloud situation got worse after 22:30, being nearly overcast at times. 2nd Half Observing Specialist: N.C. Hastings Clouds were thick at the time of switchover and rain threatened. We remained closed until the threat passed. It remained very cloudy with some rain until almost 5am, then suddenly cleared up. We did get an hour of science at the very end. ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:29 Echelle -112(-160) 67 53 8.9/10.6 246 14 ND2 1.10" 04:59 DIS Slit 0(644) -117 36 4.4/6.1 260 16 none 1.38" --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 54 34 9 264 (W) 131 PtlyCldy none 17:01 52 33 22 218 (SW) 205 PtlyCldy none 18:01 53 33 26 210 (SSW) 195 PtlyCldy none 19:01 48 32 23 210 (SSW) 227 MstlyClr none 20:01 48 32 17 233 (SW) 216 MstlyClr none 21:01 48 32 19 243 (WSW) 178 PtlyCldy none 22:01 48 33 19 231 (SW) 144 PtlyCldy none 23:01 47 33 13 249 (WSW) 207 MstlyCldy none 00:01 47 34 20 255 (WSW) 270 Overcast none 01:01 40 36 10 304 (NW) 559 Overcast none 02:01 42 35 15 268 (W) 434 Overcast rain 03:01 42 34 15 257 (WSW) 243 Overcast none 04:01 42 33 10 263 (W) 110 Overcast none 05:01 40 34 18 262 (W) 157 clear none 06:01 39 33 16 275 (W) 129 clear none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
