We had fun with many users logged in at once, discussing and testing the newest version of Remark (still not ready to be declared official yet). The observers for the Adler program got pretty pictures of several different targets even though the seeing was poor and the sky was too bright for them to use most of their scheduled time. The echelle observations went well except for serious overguiding by the autoguider, bouncing the star back and forth across the slit. On the bright side, we got lots of detailed diagnostic information so that the autoguider can be improved. Most of the time, the observer guided by hand. 2nd Half Observing Specialist: Camron Hastings Sky was clear at switchover, but then small clouds started to dot the sky. Telescope was running smoothly, no troubles encountered, pointing appeared to be accurate and consistent. Seeing was quite nice. Clouds started to move in with more force after 02:00 and remained rather thick but did not stop science. We had a dust spike right near twilight along with a rise in humidity and just called it a night a few minutes early to get closed. All in all a seemingly productive night. ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:51 Echelle -130(-215) 23 56 9.5/10.3 210 1 ND2 1.10 22:05 Echelle 1(-168) -55 61 8.8/8.7 182 6 Clear 0.68 01:15 SPIcam 50(938) -97 30 8.6/8.1 234 8 i' 0.7" 01:22 NA2 Gdr 517(?????) -97 29 8.8/8.2 227 9 R 0.86" --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 17:01 54 37 2 299 (WNW) 1331 mstly clr none 18:01 51 37 4 258 (WSW) 1038 mstly clr none 19:01 45 38 6 87 (E) 1601 clear none 20:01 50 34 1 259 (W) 1064 clear none 21:01 47 37 3 182 (S) 1047 clear none 22:01 48 36 5 202 (SSW) 1089 clear none 23:01 48 34 6 232 (SW) 990 clear None 00:01 45 37 4 182 (S) 1333 clear None 01:01 46 37 5 196 (SSW) 1537 ptly cldy None 02:01 49 34 9 236 (SW) 852 ptly cldy None 03:01 47 36 7 262 (W) 1420 ptly cldy None 04:01 47 38 8 271 (W) 1300 ptly cldy None 05:01 46 40 6 266 (W) 3014 ptly cldy None 06:01 45 40 3 284 (WNW) 2613 ptly cldy None note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
